Trust awarded the Triangle of Care Star 1
The first star is an important step in our journey as a Trust to making sure carers are supported.
The Triangle of Care, an initiative from Carers Trust, is a therapeutic alliance between carers, service users and health professionals. It aims to promote safety and recovery and sustain mental wellbeing by including and supporting carers at every stage of a person’s journey through our services.
One of our core Trust values is knowing that families and carers matter. Our Trust became a member of the Triangle of Care one year ago, gaining our first star means that we are learning, taking actions and improving on the support we give to carers.
The Trust submitted its one-year report to Carers Trust followed by an external panel review, after which we achieved our first star. The star is awarded when all inpatient and crisis teams have been assessed and the provider has demonstrated commitment to delivering the six Triangle of Care standards.
Gillian Cowell, carers project manager, South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching NHS Foundation Trust said: “Our Trust has come so far in the last year in how we support carers. Achieving our first star is a real testament to our teams and services for their hard work in assessing how we currently support carers, and where we can improve the support that we give.
“As a carer too, I am so proud of the way we have involved carers to develop our support offer, especially in the development of our carers passport and carer retreats.”
