Special ceremony to mark mental health chief’s OBE

The Chair of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which provides mental health and learning disability services to the people of Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield, will be presented with an OBE on Thursday 30th July at a special ceremony.

Joyce Catterick was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s 2009 New Year Honours list in January this year for her services to the Citizens Advice Bureau and to the people of West Yorkshire. Her award will be presented to her by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe.

Joyce was an active member of the Calderdale Citizen’s Advice Bureau Trustee Board, serving as Chair for 10 years and an advisor for over 20 years. She sat on the Trustee Board of National Citizen’s Advice for 6 years, until September last year.

Joyce has been Chair of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust for nearly two years and is responsible for leading the organisation and ensuring it provides good quality health services within the resources available. The Trust is the main provider of mental health services and specialist health services for people with a learning disability for Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield districts and is also a major provider of NHS medium secure services for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities for the Yorkshire region. The Trust serves a local population of 900,000 people.

Joyce said, “I am very proud to receive an OBE. The Citizens Advice Bureau is an excellent resource for local people and I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the valuable work it does. I would like to pay tribute to the many excellent people I have worked with who have shown their support."
