Behind the scenes of stammering – help produce new Trust training videos
The Trust is looking for people with experience of stammering to help produce a series of training videos.
We are working with STAMMA, the largest UK charity and membership organisation representing people who stammer, to achieve better interactions with people who stammer.
The series of videos will be used within the Trust to increase understanding and awareness of how to work with both patients and staff who stammer.
People who stammer or have stammered in the past, family members, friends, or colleagues of people who stammer and who are aware of the challenges that stammering can bring are invited to attend events to help co-produce the videos.
Involvement in the process is flexible, and all events will make space and time for stammering.
Nicola Maddy, speech and language therapist, said: “We want to become a stammer and communication friendly Trust for both employees and people using our services who stammer. This would include creating greater awareness, and looking at training, development, inclusive recruitment, reasonable adjustments and much more.
“We know that this has greater impact when it involves people who stammer, so we hope that as many people as possible will get involved to design, develop, produce, and evaluate the videos to help us provide the best possible care.”
