Halifax event offers an insight into ADHD

Date:

A local NHS trust that provides a range of community, mental health and learning disability services in Calderdale is hosting a free talk offering an insight into attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

The education talks are being held by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and are an opportunity for local people to find out more about mental health problems.

This year’s educational talks follow on from the popular events held in 2010 and 2011 which explored conditions including bipolar and dementia.

The first round of ‘insight into’ talks for 2012 focus on ADHD and will be led by Dr Marios Adamou, consultant psychiatrist in the Trust’s adult ADHD service.

The events are an educational talk on the condition, followed by time for questions. The events are free and are open to anybody, so local people are invited to come along with friends, colleagues or family.

This is the last talk to be held on ADHD and local people are invited to come along on Tuesday 19th June 2012 at 5th floor, F Mill, Dean Clough, Halifax, HX3 5AX.

The event will begin with refreshments at 6.30pm and the talk will commence at 7pm. The event will end at 8.30pm.

Dr Adamou, consultant psychiatrist, said, "Anyone in Halifax or the surrounding Calderdale area is welcome to come along to find out a little more about ADHD. ADHD is one of the most common developmental conditions in the UK. Whether you are student, you know someone who suffers from ADHD or you simply want to gain an insight into this common problem, please come and join us."
