RESEARCH HELPS MOVE TRUST IN RIGHT DIRECTION

There is an opportunity to be updated on the research findings of the South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust at its annual research and development workshop on Tuesday 9th March 2004.

The workshop focuses on the progress of one of the Trusts key research programmes ‘Modernising Mental Health and Learning Disability Service Delivery and Organisation,’ and will feature presentations from service users, carers and representatives from a range of services.

Service user and carer groups will be giving presentations on · The impact of user involvement in research and evaluation · A welfare rights project · An employment project

Other presentations will include: · The diagnosis of learning disability in young offenders · Pathways of care · Alcohol abuse in the elderly · Ageing and mental health

The programme is a partnership between the Trust and several other organisations including local Primary Care Trusts, Leeds Mental Health NHS Trust, the Doncaster and South Humber Healthcare NHS Trust, and University of Huddersfield.

An exhibition of artwork produced during the Inspire creative arts project will also be held throughout the day.

Virginia Minogue, research and development manager said, ‘this workshop will provide us with an ideal opportunity to share good practice and research findings with people who use our services and also partners from other organisations.’
