Sheffield Stop Smoking Service Quit Stop.Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service is relaunching its Quit Stop in the city centre with new eye-catching signage.

The city centre shop on Charles Street opened in 2011, and has recently been made more visible to passersby with bright and modern signage.

The Quit Stop gives people the opportunity to drop in at any time with no need for an appointment. It aims to help anyone thinking about stopping smoking or those whose resolve might be wavering.

It is open six days a week and is staffed by trained advisers who offer smokers advice, information and support. This includes information on what medications are available (like patches and gum), tips on beating those cravings, and support to help you stay quit for good. This is a free, non-judgemental and confidential service and is tailored to suit the needs of each individual smoker.

Claire Holden, the service manager at the Sheffield NHS Stop Smoking Service said, “Stopping smoking is one of the most effective ways of improving your health and free help is available to help you quit from our service. You’re four times more likely to quit smoking for good with our expert friendly support. We know that most smokers would really like to stop but can find it hard, so the Quit Stop aims to make it as easy as possible with no appointments necessary and in a convenient city centre location. The aim is to be available to people at a time and place that suits them.”

The service, which is provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, helped 3,000 people to quit in 2012/13 and over 1,100 people came into the shop, nearly 300 more than in the previous year.

Passersby have already commented on the new shop signage saying “it’s bright” and “it can’t be missed”.
