Mums-to-be in Wakefield are being offered free exercise and support sessions to help them stay happy and healthy during their pregnancy.

Shape Your Pregnancy

The Shape Your Pregnancy programme, run by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust offers women who are pregnant or who have recently given birth help to manage their weight.

Run at locations across the Wakefield district sessions cover a range of topics including safe exercise during pregnancy, healthy food choices and advice on how to feed your baby.

Sessions are run by health professionals who offer support in a group setting as well as one-to-one advice.

Jenny Wilson, Shape Your Pregnancy co-ordinator said, “If you are worried about putting on a bit of weight during pregnancy we can help put your mind at ease and give you all the support you need to stay fit and healthy.

“Whether you are expecting and want to keep the weight off, or you’ve recently given birth and you want to get your pre-baby body back we have classes to suit you.

“It’s also a great way to meet other mums who are in a similar position to you and create friendships that continue outside of the group.”

If you are aged 16 or above, registered with a Wakefield GP and have a BMI of 30 or above then Shape Your Pregnancy is the course for you.

The Shape Your Pregnancy programme is delivered by the Wakefield health trainers team at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
