Trust welcomes South Yorkshire leaders to Barnsley services

The Trust recently welcomed the chief executive of South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, Gavin Boyle, and Barnsley Council’s executive place director, Wendy Lowder, to find out more about the work going on in our Barnsley services.

Meeting with Trust chief executive Mark Brooks, Gavin and Wendy visited the adult mental health inpatient wards at Kendray Hospital and the stroke rehabilitation unit.

They also heard a briefing from the Trust and Barnsley partnership colleagues about a range of services designed to bring care closer to the local community.

Gavin said: “I was really impressed by what I saw – the stroke unit is first class and I was pleased to see how colleagues on the inpatient mental health wards were working to provide good, person-centred care.”

He continued: “On top of that I was bowled over by a range of updates on a wide range of community-based services that had been developed by the place partnership there, including innovative work to deliver physical health checks for people with serious mental illness. It was a great visit and a big thank you to Mark and colleagues for taking the time to share their work with Wendy and me.”
