“Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, and it is observed by millions of Muslims worldwide. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, refraining from eating and drinking. For me, this is a time for spiritual meditation, increased dedication, and charitable gestures.

Fasting during Ramadan purifies my soul, provides me self-discipline, and helps me empathise with those who are less fortunate. I believe it is a month that deepens my relationship with Allah (God).

After the 30 days of Ramadan, we celebrate Eid, a festival for Muslims. I believe it is a time of thanks, happiness, and togetherness. For Eid, I read the morning prayer, give gifts to family and friends, and enjoy a meal with them. The atmosphere is filled with joy, and it is a time for Muslims to celebrate the completion of fasting.

My aims/goals for this Ramadan are to focus on my spiritual self by increasing my prayers, reciting Quran, doing acts of charity, and asking for forgiveness. I feel that this is a time of year when I can improve myself and reflect on my faith.

At the beginning of the month, I found it difficult to fast while working because I had never worked full-time while fasting, so everything was new to me, but as the weeks passed, I adapted to it. I work in a wonderful team where colleagues regularly ask about how my fast is going and what I want to eat at Iftar, as well as whether I require any support with anything.”
