About the service
The Union housing scheme provides long-term accommodation with varied support options (e.g. activities of daily living, support with finances, assistance with medication) that are tailored to the individual needs of people recovering from mental health problems. This has meant ‘homes for life’ for some individuals, whilst others continue to move onto greater independence.
Each service user has an identified personal worker who is responsible for the planning and evaluation of care given by the scheme.
The focus is on providing the support required to enable people to live valued lives in their communities and to achieve increased independence/social inclusion.

Staff you may meet
- Administrative staff provide essential support to doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. This can be in a variety of different settings, with administrators working as a receptionist in a clinic or a clerk on a ward. They may also be working closely with a consultant as a medical secretary.
- There are many people who work behind the scenes to keep services running and you may meet them in hospital or community settings. They include porters, cleaners, plumbers, electricians, decorators receptionists and secretaries who all work to make sure healthcare settings are kept clean, tidy and safe.
