Kirklees Keep In Mind – May 2023

This consultation is CLOSED

Close date: 31st May 2023

Overview

The purpose of this research was to get views from young people and parents to help with rebranding our service, creating a website and improving our service.

All schools who were part of Kirklees Mental Health Support Team were invited by email to become involved and to give students/and or parents the opportunity to be involved in service development. Twelve schools gave us access to students and four schools allowed us to attend parents evenings to speak to parents/carers.  Some other parents/carers  were involved through promotion by our parent and community workers and educational mental health practitioners who had worked with young people and asked if they would be willing to participate.

During a team meeting, it was decided by staff what sort of questions we wanted to ask young people, parents and carers. In schools, questions were asked to young people as part of a focus group. For parents, I arranged a convenient time to have a chat with them over the telephone and rewarded them for their contributions with a £10 Love to Shop Voucher.

In terms of next steps, these findings will be used to help create our website (and will use the input to populate it further) and also rebrand the Mental Health Support Team to Kirklees Keep in Mind which was a name suggested by a student in Y6. We have also had student and parent feedback to help with the creation of the logo.
