South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust selected as top place to work

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating after being selected as one of the top places to work, according to the Health Service Journal (HSJ) and NHS Employers.

The Trust has been shortlisted in the HSJ ‘Best Places to Work’ list, which is written in partnership with NHS Employers, to celebrate the 100 best public sector healthcare employers. The list recognises organisations across the acute, community, mental health and primary care sectors which have proven that they know what it takes to create environments where people love to come to work.

To compile the list, HSJ worked with an independent company to analyse NHS staff survey findings across seven core areas: leadership and planning; corporate culture and communications; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training and development; and employee engagement and satisfaction.

In the final HSJ list, the Trust was recognised as a ‘successful organisation with strong and stable leadership’. Staff wellbeing schemes such as retreats and counselling support are also recognised as examples of employee engagement and satisfaction.

Steven Michael OBE, Trust chief executive said, “I’m extremely proud that the Trust has been chosen as one of the top 100 best places to work. It’s really important that our staff are happy and feel capable to undertake their role as this enables them to provide the best possible care for local people.

“As well as regularly asking staff to share their feedback about working at our Trust– this year we have introduced a number of initiatives to embed the Trust’s values with our workforce.

“Ensuring that staff live the Trust’s values creates a common sense of purpose for all staff and unites our services. Recent initiatives include a values-based recruitment pilot that measures potential candidates’ values and behaviours to ensure they are in line with those expected at the Trust.

“We’ve also introduced a new staff recognition scheme – Values into Excellence – which celebrates teams that have lived the Trust values in their working life.”
