Smokefree in the markets

Our Yorkshire Smokefree team has opened up shop on Barnsley market.  The stall is currently open on Mondays between 9.30am and 4.30pm but there are plans to open on more days in the near future.

It follows a pilot scheme in Sheffield where the service relocated from a city centre shop to the market stall in the city’s Moor market. This move has been highly successful in helping the team target hard to reach groups of smokers.

Zoe Styring, Healthy Lifestyle Service Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be in Barnsley markets and we’ve  already had a lot of interest from shoppers and traders alike.  Not everyone is online or feels comfortable walking into an office to make an appointment so this is a great informal way to engage smokers.”
