Yorkshire Smoke Free are using technology to help smokers kick the habit

Date:

Recently, our colleagues from Yorkshire Smoke Free were delighted to give a presentation at the Health Excellence Through Technology Show. The well attended event took place at the ‘ExCel London’ conference centre on the 28 September 2021.

Invited by ORCHA, Sue Jones and Chris Keoghan presented a best practice case study: ‘Smoking Cessation with Digital Health’. Their presentation focussed on how they have incorporated trusted health apps into their care pathway for clients who want to stop smoking.  They also took part in a panel discussion, facilitated by ORCHA, entitled ‘Apps and Wearables – Preventative tools: Remote Monitoring and Self-Management in a Post-COVID World’.

They received excellent feedback from their audiences, who recognised that their work has added great value to the care they provide to service users.

Angela Monaghan, chair of the Trust, said: “It is fantastic to see our colleagues from Yorkshire Smoke Free leading such an important discussion about the ways that we can harness technology to help people stop smoking. Smoking is one of the biggest causes of cancers and creates significant financial and emotional burdens in the lives of smokers and their families. We want people to live their lives free of the worry and ill health that smoking creates.”

If you would like to give up smoking you can find support from the Yorkshire Smoke Free team who are proud to support the national Stoptober campaign.
